Chewing gum factory hotel

In November, it will be realized: a shiny steel hotel on the site of the Kauwgomballenfabriek (chewing gum factory). The hotel, to be realized as a building measuring a height of 65m, will house approximately 250 rooms. It will be a huge building requiring solid foundation elements consisting of approximately 420 piles.

The hotel will be realized on the location of the same name. The building’s name has been transformed to Kauwgomballenfabriek and is housing company halls for creative tenants. We will apply two pile systems that will both support the tower. They will include approximately 200 displacing DPA piles and another 220 displacing HBF vibro piles. The piles will come in great lengths because of the huge bearing capacity that they have to offer the building.

The design

The public areas will serve as a social landscape for the neighborhood as well as the hotel. This landscape will be realized as a staged wooden platform and will connect the outside meeting points to, for example, the front desk, the bar and the restaurant inside of the building.

The broad wooden stairs can be used to sit on, to eat or to drink on or for meeting purposes. The public outside area and the hotel will be separated from each other only by glass.
