European working group visits Muiden

The NVAF welcomed EFFC’s (European Federation of Foundation Contractors) Health & Safety Working Group near the aqueduct in Muiden. The aqueduct’s construction is part of Rijkswaterstaat’s road extension project between Schiphol – Amsterdam – Almere. Meeting location was Van der Valk Hotel Breukelen, but there was particular interest in the visit to Europe’s largest aqueduct.

Activities by NVAF

The NVAF participates actively in all activities. In the past week, it was her turn to organize the six-monthly meeting for the Health & Safety WG. This meeting is always preceded by a working visit. Most members of the working group include KAM officials and they scrutinize the safety and working circumstances at a project. The meeting always includes ‘conclusions from the site visit’. The project for the aqueduct adjacent to Muiden offers sufficient opportunities for that.

Working groups

EFFC , with NVAF on behalf of the Netherlands, includes several working groups: Contracts WGHealth & Safety WG, Technical WG, Carbon Calculator Group and an Executive Committee (general management) and Officers (everyday management). EFFC represents a fair total of 350 companies in 17 countries.

Work in progress

At the moment, Vroom is inserting around 6,500 foundation piles here. During the visit, the foundation rigs were in full swing.
