Vibro-combi piles

Applied for underground construction like tunneling, parking garages, and other projects where the pile heads must be installed beneath the ground surface. The relevant features of vibro piles type HBF, apply to vibro-combi piles. Vibro-combi piles possess the same geotechnical bearing capacity.

Application

  • Applicable for infrastructure works; including tunnel construction, underground parking garages, and structures where the pile head must be installed below the ground level.
  • Always have an undamaged prefabricated core of high-quality concrete in the presence of solid intermediate layers, obstacles, and the like.
  • Can be manufactured from a higher level to a certain depth below the ground level. In tunnel construction, for example, 8 meters below the ground level, this offers advantages. On the one hand, the excavation of the tunnel section can take place unhindered. On the other hand, an excess length of pile does not need to be cropped. The piles can be executed from traverses.
  • Exhibit minimal displacement under tensile load due to the prestressing in the prefabricated concrete element.
  • The favorable driving behavior of vibro piles type HBF, is combined with the favorable displacement behavior of the prestressed prefabricated concrete element.
  • Especially in tunnel construction and basement floors of parking garages, these specific characteristics are utilized.

Features

  • Possess all relevant properties of vibro piles but have specific advantages and application areas.
  • The pile head can be installed below the working level.
  • A vibro-combi pile can withstand high tensile loads.
  • After driving the pile tube, a prefabricated reinforced concrete element is placed in the casing.
  • The design and cross-section of the concrete element are based on its suitability for the intended use and its inherent strength during transport and placement in the pile tube.
  • Additional factory-installed provisions are possible for connecting the pile head with the superstructure, such as profiling for an underwater concrete floor or embedding anchor bolts.
  • The grout mixture is partially applied around the prefabricated concrete element.
  • Additionally, the relevant features of vibro piles type HBF, apply.
  • Batter positions:
    • Backward up to a maximum of 3:1 to 4:1.
    • Forward up to a maximum of 4:1 to 10:1.
  • The piles can absorb compression and, especially, tension.
  • The pile system is soil-displacing and has the same geotechnical bearing capacity as vibro piles type HBF.
  • No excavated soil.
  • Pile system and bearing capacity factors comply with current construction standards.
  • It is a known and valued foundation system among structural engineers and the Building and Housing Supervision Service.

Vibro-combi piles possess all the relevant properties of the vibro pile type HBF, offering additional advantages and specific application possibilities.

Special Aspects

  • Pre-drilling is applied at locations where obstacles may occur in the top layer.
  • Pre-drilling prior to the production of Vibro piles type HBF, results in significant reductions in pile-driving vibrations.
  • Noise reductions can be achieved during production when a sound barrier is applied. Vroom Funderingstechnieken, in collaboration with, among others, IHC Hydrohammer and TNO Delft, developed a noise-reducing jacket for this purpose.

Quality Control

Vroom Funderingstechnieken manufactures vibro-combi piles according to established execution procedures as part of internal quality control and nationally applicable standards.

Control of the geotechnical bearing capacity is possible based on the number of strikes per 25 cm, which can be automatically recorded by the IHC hammers. Acoustic measurement of the vibro-combi piles is not necessary, as the piles are stress-free introduced into the pile tube. In some cases, these piles can be acoustically measured. The prefabricated concrete elements are supplied under a KOMO certificate. The grout for the vibro-combi piles comes from certified plants. Vroom Funderingstechnieken can perform additional checks on the grout quality by casting cubes on-site and testing them.
