Campus A58 Distribution Centre

115.000 M2 of floor space 805 vibrated piles

We made 805 vibrated piles in February and March 2021 for the construction of the Campus A58 distribution centre on the former site of Philips Lighting, in Roosendaal.

Campus A58 comprises 10 units, varying in floor space from 9540 to 13,000 m2 of warehousing, with 1360 to 1650 m2 of office space on the mezzanine floor. In total, c. 115,000 m2  of warehousing and c. 15,000 m2 of office space.

The units are spread over 2 buildings. There are 157 docks and 10 GLDs. Standard maximum clearance is 12.5 m. The project as a whole will be completed in a sustainable way, in line with the standards for the BREEAM ‘Very Good’ rating.

The Campus A58 site is immediately adjacent to the A58 motorway, so it is easy to reach and leave, using exits 22 and 23. Access to the A17 motorway (Brussels – Antwerp – Amsterdam) has been simplified with the completion of the by-pass that links the two motorways, so lorries no longer have to pass through or go into the town itself.

New employment opportunities

The curtain fell on a 67-year long history for Philips Lighting in Roosendaal. In November 2015, the last light bulb rolled off the production line of the gigantic factory complex. The last employees left and, at the end of 2015, Philips Lighting was closed for good. Production of light bulbs was switched to Poland and China.

The advent of the new distribution centre means a new boost to employment opportunities in the West-Brabant region.

Campus A58 is an important logistics centre that will be created on the Majoppeveld-Noord industrial estate in Roosendaal. The sole visible remnant of the former factory site will be the chimney that defines the landscape, which will get a place to itself in the new layout.
