At the new location, there is existing construction. To carry out the foundation work with minimal disturbance to the neighbours, DPA screw piles were chosen, in line with the geomechanical advice. DPA screw piles displace the soil and are manufactured without generating excess drilling soil. The load-bearing capacity is checked using a so-called penetrometer. This device measures the soil’s penetration resistance, which is important for determining soil compaction and load-bearing capacity.
Contractor Hecon and subcontractor Vroom make a strong combination: communication and execution proceed smoothly, with mutual understanding for deviations, which in this project are not noteworthy. “On a good day, we make 30 piles here“, says Frits Verhoeven, project leader at Vroom. “With that, our work will be completed in 10 working days before our companies go on Christmas break.“
