A wind turbine needs solid foundations. In this case, that means 34 piles per turbine. The piling is determined for each location individually: Either vibrated piles or DPA-PLUS screw piles. This choice depends on the sensitivity to vibration of objects in the immediate vicinity. In total we are making 1500 in-situ piles. Ten of the wind turbines are being built on DPA-PLUS screw piles, while we are using vibrated piles for the rest.

Near Stadskanaal a new wind farm, with 44 wind turbines, is being created. For this project, Vroom made the foundations with vibrated piles and DPA_PLUS screw piles.
Imposing dimensions
The Drentse Monden en Oostermoer wind farm is situated in the northern part of the Drentse Veenkoloniën, in the local authority areas of Borger-Odoorn and Aa en Hunze. The 44 wind turbines are to be installed in a series of six rows, on land measuring 50 square kilometres. The height of the vertical axis of the turbines is 145 metres. The rotor diameter is 131 metres. So the rotor tip, the highest point of the turbine, measured from the ground at the point that a rotor blade is at its highest point is 210 metres.
