Kwadijkerpark sheltered accommodation

In recent years, there has been significant expansion at Kwadijkerpark: the healthcare institution is undertaking considerable new construction. This time, three new buildings are being positioned on Flevostraat and at Noordpunt. Time for us to drive 640 piles into the ground.

The first pile of the new construction in Kwadijkerpark was driven by client Sandra Scheper. Her ticket was drawn by councillor Harry Rotgans. Sandra was very pleased to be allowed to climb into the pile driver. With a press of a button in the cabin, the first pile went into the ground. The other clients of the Prinsenstichting who had registered for this were allowed to press a red button to also contribute to the piling. This was further celebrated with a horn and a confetti cannon. Flags decorated by clients who are moving to the new construction hung on the construction fence.

The construction of 136 sheltered-accommodation units for the future residents is shared over three buildings. The sites in the Kwadijkerpark in Purmerend are being built in the 'cottage’ style, in common with the other modern sites in the Kwadijkerpark. The sites are being built so that they are not dependent on natural gas (not connected to the grid), and will be equipped with solar panels, so that they can operate in a way that is energy-neutral. Experiences at previous building sites have been used as a model from which to learn. The door openings, for instance, are wider and bed lifts will be installed.
