Successful contribution to new data center

Vroom Funderingstechnieken contributed to the construction of a new data center in Eemshaven. From surveying to pile driving supervision, our team handled all aspects and met the client’s requirements for a fully self-sufficient workplace.

Vroom was involved from an early stage in the construction of the new data center in Eemshaven, thanks in part to the excellent results we achieved last year at AMS11 in Schiphol-Rijk. We took care of the surveying ourselves, from setting out to as-built measurements, as well as pile driving supervision and pile load testing. The client requested full self-sufficiency, so we provided our own water and electricity. Additionally, the client asked us to insulate the reinforcements to keep them free from concrete and to use spacers for the central positioning of the reinforcements in the piles.

Challenges and successes

Challenges

The piling work was very demanding, requiring us to use one of our Leffers for almost half of all the piles. In construction, a Leffer is used to lift and move heavy objects. It is a lifting device often used for hoisting concrete elements, steel structures, or other heavy building materials. This made the work environment challenging for the employees. Vroom deployed additional wheel loaders and manpower to support the work. The heavy piling also led to a very compacted top layer, making the subsequent placement of prefab piles a challenging task that had to be carried out with great caution.

Successes

We have twice won the title of Safety Team of the Month. One colleague was even named Employee of the Month for his exemplary behavior: always wearing personal protective equipment, not smoking in the construction pit, and always thinking about creating a safer work environment.
