To do this, Vroom is using two pile systems, with both driven and drilled techniques. Where adjacent buildings have to be considered, DPA piles will be drilled in, whereas the other piles used will be vibro-piles. The length of the piles is around 26 metres.
Waalhaven distribution centre
In the Port of Rotterdam we are working on a distribution centre with surface area of 9,350 m2 of working space, a 1,230 m2 mezzanine floor and 720 m2 of office space. Tenants have already expressed interest for the whole building, so work must press ahead in earnest. A squad of 6 piling rigs is driving and drilling over 4,000 piles into the ground.
Revitalisation of the Waalhaven
The Waalhaven in Rotterdam once played an important role in the development of the port and is still an economically-important area. Its location, within the area bounded by the ring road, and its excellent accessibility make the Waalhaven an important operational base for port-related businesses. In order to maintain and improve this unique position the Port of Rotterdam has, for quite some time, been aiming to revitalise the area. Distriport Waalhaven is part of this, and is helping to restore its status.
