First Vroom foundation system in the National Environmental Database

The construction sector is visibly changing. Whereas sustainability was for many years mainly expressed as an ambition, there is now an increasing demand for demonstrable substantiation.

Clients, architects and design consultancies are paying closer attention throughout the entire process of design, procurement and execution to the environmental performance of applied products and systems. Insight into CO₂ emissions and environmental impact is playing an increasingly important role in this regard. The National Environmental Database (NMD) has become an important instrument within the sector.
Vroom Funderingstechnieken is actively responding to this development. Our foundation system vibropiles, type HBF has officially been included in the National Environmental Database. This makes it the first foundation system within our portfolio to provide demonstrable insight into environmental performance across the entire lifecycle of the product through a validated LCA (Life Cycle Assessment).

This registration means more than simply a technical listing in a database. It makes the environmental performance of vibropiles, type HBF transparent, objectively comparable and directly applicable within design and calculation tools used by clients, consultants and design parties. In a market where sustainability criteria are increasingly decisive in the specification and selection of construction systems, this represents an important step.

Within tenders and construction projects, increasing attention is being paid to the total environmental impact of a building or structure. Stakeholders no longer only want to know whether a solution is sustainable, but above all how sustainable it actually is and how this can be substantiated. With the inclusion of vibropiles, type HBF in the NMD, clients and design teams now have access to validated data that can be directly incorporated into environmental calculations and design considerations.

For Vroom, this development forms part of a broader movement within the foundation industry. It is no longer only the execution on site that matters, but also the demonstrable impact of materials, equipment and foundation systems throughout their entire lifecycle. By investing in this, we aim to support clients and construction partners in making well-founded decisions that align with the sustainability ambitions of today and tomorrow.

Not the finishing line

The inclusion of vibropiles, type HBF in the NMD is certainly not the finishing line. In the short term, vibro-SD piles, concrete screw piles, DPA screw piles and DPA-PLUS screw piles will also be added to the National Environmental Database. These systems are expected to be officially included before 1 July 2026.

These next steps will provide clients, architects, structural engineers and design consultancies with increasing insight into the environmental performance of various foundation solutions. In doing so, we are collectively contributing to greater transparency within the sector and to better substantiated choices in future construction projects.
