Hitachi CX900-GLS restored to peak condition

After nearly eleven months of work in the Van den Heuvel workshop in Werkendam, it’s back. And better than ever. Commissioned by Vroom Funderingstechnieken, Van den Heuvel carried out a thorough overhaul and engine replacement on the Hitachi CX900-GLS. The result: an impressive foundation rig, fully prepared for a new chapter. And naturally in its signature “Vroom Red”.

A technical rejuvenation

Upon arrival, the machine was first fully inspected and the hydraulic components were tested. This was followed by a series of major overhauls:

  • The main and auxiliary winches were completely disassembled, fitted with new bearings and seals, tested, and reassembled.
  • The hoist winch, boom tip winch, net winch, and top winch received the same treatment.
  • A new hose winch was mounted on the base of the leader to increase efficiency.
  • All hydraulic cylinders were overhauled: disassembled, inspected, honed and re-chromed where necessary. They were then fitted with new seals and, after assembly, pressure-tested and approved.
  • The mast cylinders received a special nickel/chrome treatment and were precision-engineered to exact specifications. For enhanced reliability, these cylinders were equipped with high-grade holding valves to minimise internal leakage.
  • The slewing ring, pump distribution box, and swing drive were also overhauled.

To top it off, the old diesel engine was replaced with a new Volvo TAD883VC engine, compliant with Stage V emission standards. The operator’s comfort was also upgraded with a climate control system, a new seat, and updated controls.

Ready for the future

Following the technical works, the machine was fully blasted and repainted in our characteristic red corporate colour, finished with a clear coat for long-lasting protection.

We thank Van den Heuvel for the meticulous execution and look forward to many reliable operating hours with this renewed machine.
