DHG has started on construction of Smartlog Zaandam. The logistics distribution centre is being built on a brownfield site at the Westerspoor business park in Zaandam, on the banks of the North Sea Canal; a prime location for logistics companies.
When complete, the high-quality distribution centre will have 26,000 m² of floor space, divided into the warehouse, mezzanine floor and office space.
The site has excellent accessibility from the Zuidelijke Randweg, which provides a direct connection with the A8, A9 and A10, and the Westzanerweg. The site has excellent connections over land and water thanks to its situation on the North Sea Canal, part of the second-largest port complex in the Netherlands (after Rotterdam Europoort). Schiphol is just 20 minutes away.
Smartlog Zaandam will be built on the principles of the tried-and-tested Smartlog concept to be a high-quality, sustainable distribution centre with a guaranteed standard of fixed specifications. For instance, it will be fitted with energy-efficient LED lighting, solar panels and floor heating, and the whole project will be independent of the gas network on commissioning.
