295 apartments, IMAGINE

295 apartments 536 piles

The IMAGINE project, in Rotterdam’s Parkstad Zuid, is made up of 295 apartments, an underground car park and commercial units. We are making vibrated-pile foundations, with 536 piles in total, with lengths ranging from 27 – 30 metres.

The site of the apartment complex is on the Laan op Zuid, on the corner of 2e Rosestraat. The higher tower block has 22 storeys; the apartments in this section of the project are owner-occupied flats. In the lower tower block, with 16 storeys, are rental apartments and on the ground floor there is space for a range of commercial functions, such as a coffee bar, somewhere to get lunch, and small shop units. In the central area will be a landscaped inner courtyard that is accessible to all residents. The project is completely gas-free.

In the starting blocks!

Contractors AM and Heijmans have started building the 295 dwellings that make up the IMAGINE project in Rotterdam. The IMAGINE complex comprises:
162 owner-occupied dwellings

  • 133 rental apartments
  • 120 parking spaces
  • 1500 m2 of commercial space

IMAGINE is a good example of sustainable building: the apartments will be energy-efficient, the building will be climate-adaptable, there will be a common inner courtyard and residents will be able to make use of shared mobility.

Bas Kurvers, of the municipal executive in Rotterdam (Construction and Energy Transition in the Built-up Area) had the honour of declaring it open in a ceremony on 29 November.

The IMAGINE development marks the start of a 'new world’ on Rotterdam's south bank. The future users of the complex will find themselves in a completely new environment at the centre of everything, where no day will be the same. A dynamic environment that has it all. Somewhere to live, somewhere for sport. Go for a walk in the park or a night on the town. This is where the new Feyenoord City urban development starts, the jewel in the crown of Parkstad, the garden city of Rotterdam. The people who eventually live in IMAGINE will form the cornerstone of a new district of Rotterdam.
