New residential development in West-Friesland

18 Dwellings93 Piles

In Hoogkarspel we are installing pre-cast piles and fitting pre-cast foundation beams for 18 ‘double maisonettes’ (one dwelling unit with two floors on top of another) on behalf of the Het Grootslag housing association.

Vroom Foundation Technology has accumulated plenty practical experience in relation to pre-cast concrete piles and gives advice on the possibilities for use. The pile system is one which displaces soil. Vroom is specialised in ‘heavy’ concrete piles (those with large dimensions). Pre-cast concrete driven piles have many uses:

  • Foundations for wind turbines.
  • Residential construction, non-residential construction and all other sorts of structures or buildings; they can be used in almost any type of ground.
  • Civil engineering projects which involve piles with high load-bearing capacities.
  • Can be installed for cellars, tunnels and other underground structures from ground level, then driven to their final position.
  • Piling on the water, on a pontoon for boathouses, jetties and bridges.
  • Storage units, terraces with piling foundations and garden walls in new-build projects.

Building with pre-cast foundation beams benefits efficiency in
general, speed of construction and consistent quality of the end
product. The pre-cast foundation beams are designed by Vroom, produced
and assembled with a KOMO-KIWA product test certificate. Pre-cast
foundation beams ensure rapid construction.

The various embeds are built into the foundation beams, as are the ducts for sewage, water and electricity.
Pre-cast foundation beams have applications in the following fields:
Residential.
Apartments.
Holiday homes.
Non-residential construction.
Foundations over water.

Growth

Hoogkarspel, a village in the local authority area of Drechterland, is located in between Hoorn and Enkhuizen, and has been able to retain its rural character. Until well into the 1960s the village had many houses with adjoining plots of land that served as orchards. In 1950, the village had a population of around 2,700.

In the seventies, it was earmarked (together with the other villages in the ancient administrative unit it formed) for residential expansion in an effort to absorb the growing migratory drift out of the densely populated Randstad area. This growth was primarily in the eastern part of the village (the Bloemenbuurt) and to the north (Plan Noord). At that time, the western part was still largely agricultural.

From 2000, the west of Hoogkarspel became the site of two new housing estates, one on either side of the Streekweg. The village is still expanding, particularly towards Westwoud.
