Concrete under wood for DPG Media

46000 M2 544 Vibro-combi piles

On Van der Madeweg, at the Overamstel business park in Amsterdam, we are making Vibro-combi piles for the new DPG Media office building. Among other things, DPG Media is familiar from the AD, de Volkskrant, Trouw and het Parool newspapers, news website Nu.nl and Q-Music.

DPG Media is moving to a new head office in Amsterdam Overamstel. The site in question covers an area of 46,000 square metres, and the building will be one of the largest hybrid timber office buildings in the world according to the developer, Being. The building will house various brands and services provided by DPG Media. In addition to office suites, editorial areas and studios, the building will also have test labs, meeting rooms, sports facilities, restaurants and a waterside event location. Open areas, double-height spaces and terraces will give a sense of openness, promoting contact between users.

The ambition for the building is for it to attain BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ standard, the highest sustainability classification awarded by the Dutch Green Building Council.

Timber is being used for a substantial portion of the structure, including the columns and ceilings. "Building with structural timber not only means fewer CO2 emissions; timber also makes a visible contribution to the well-being of users", says architect and partner at Team V, Do Janne Vermeulen.

With the installation of 544 Vibro-combi piles, Vroom Foundation Technology can safely say that the imposing office building is standing solidly on its foundations.
