Kreekrijk, situated alongside the railway tracks to Uitgeest, will be the most energy-efficient, environmentally-friendly neighbourhood in the whole of Zaanstad. On completion of the 41 houses and 14 apartments, we will move straight on to the foundations for 19+6 apartments and 30 houses for general contractor Van der Gragt, of Assendelft.

On the western fringes of Assendelft, the Kreekrijk neighbourhood is in full swing. We are installing the piles in two building pits at the same time, marking the start of the development. The afternoon of Friday, 8 June was the formal ceremony with all future residents, at which mayor Hamming, of Zaanstad, drove a symbolic pile into the ground.
