Nij Hiddum-Houw wind park

At one of the best sites for wind power in the Netherlands, Windpark Gooyum-Houw and Vattenfall are developing “Windpark Nij Hiddum-Houw”. Some of the sixteen old wind turbines that stood in the area have been removed and will be replaced by more powerful ones.

We are making vibrated-pile foundations for the new wind turbines in Windpark Nij Hiddum-Houw in Cornwerd. Each turbine has foundations of 44 piles of lengths varying from 23 to 38 metres.

Imposing dimensions and outputs

The new wind turbines have a tip height of 177 metres, a shaft height of 109 metres and a 136-metre rotor diameter. They have an output of 4.65 MW per turbine, so the new wind farm will make a contribution to the Province of Friesland's target of generating 170,000 MWh/y of wind power.

Local residents in the vicinity of the wind farm, including all residents of Cornwerd, will be given a one-off payment. The same applies to residents of Zurich and Wons. In addition, local residents may invest in the wind farm themselves. Lastly, a fund will be created to finance projects in the local area.
