Robin Wood: sustainable icon on Centrumeiland IJburg

165 homes, studios, and offices701 piles

A strong foundation for a wooden icon on Centrumeiland IJburg. With a solid base, the building forms an innovative and environmentally friendly platform for future-oriented timber construction, with minimal impact on the surroundings.

The foundation of Robin Wood was constructed using a total of 701 DPA screw piles. This type of screw pile is a displacement pile system formed in the ground. During production, only a limited amount of drilling soil is released, and the system is low in vibration. The execution was carried out with two foundation machines, in close collaboration with main contractor Slokker Bouwgroep. Thanks to regular progress meetings and good coordination with all involved parties, the foundation work was executed with care and craftsmanship. A stable and well-considered base for a pioneering timber building.

Building block with vision and connection

Robin Wood is not a standard residential building. It is a modular, bio-based urban block with a distinct vision for sustainable and future-oriented construction. With its transparent plinth, collective rooftop gardens, and smart apartment layouts, the building offers space for connection, creativity, and tranquility. The use of prefab modules and the principle of Open Building make it possible to flexibly respond to changing needs—both horizontally and vertically. Thanks to the combination of mid-range rental and private sector rental, an accessible and diverse living environment emerges.
