Villa on hollow piles

1 villa 18 piles

In Rijnsaterwoude, South Holland, located between Nieuw-Vennep and Alphen aan den Rijn, Vroom Funderingstechnieken has constructed the foundation for a new villa.

In 2023, Vroom Funderingstechnieken added the Hollow Pre-cast Screw Pile (HPS®) to its product range. The Hollow Pre-cast Screw Pile is a ground displacement screw pile system. The soil is displaced laterally at the tip, resulting in very limited soil upheaval. When screwing in the prestressed hollow prefabricated pile, a grout mixture is injected under the sacrificial screw tip.

The hollow pile leads to savings in raw materials such as cement, sand, and gravel. The associated weight reduction also offers benefits, for example in transportation.

Vroom modified its Woltman THW5525D to be able to apply this new pile system. The Hollow Pre-cast Screw Pile is suspended under the leader and equipped with a central drive shaft and also a grout lance through its hollow core. This is connected to the steel screw tip. The drilling torque is transferred to the screw tip via the drive shaft. Grout is also injected into the ground through the shaft and screw tip. In this way, the foundation pile is screwed to the required pile tip level.

Stock is available for every size, allowing for quick response. In addition, elements are produced daily, cut to the correct length a day after production, and can be immediately processed.

Maneuvering

The new villa is the first of two new detached villas to be built and is situated among existing homes. The choice of this pile system was partly based on this, as the Hollow Pre-cast Screw Pile is introduced with minimal noise and vibration and as with this work, also extremely suitable for very soft ground..

Production took place in a very limited workspace and required considerable skill with each pile. Both the operator of the foundation machine and the excavator, which meticulously slides the drive shaft horizontally into the hollow pile, were faced with only a few meters of workspace around their machines.

A commendable achievement!
