116 new dwellings are being built on the former car park on the Purmersteenweg in Purmerend: 90 apartments and 26 low-rise dwellings. The development will be equipped with underground parking facilities.
Vroom was awarded the contract for the foundations of the parking facilities and used DPA screw piles. That is a pile system that uses cast-in-situ soil-displacement screw piles, with which very little drilled soil rises to the surface. The method for casting these piles is a low-vibration process, something that is important when the building site is in the vicinity of buildings or structures that could easily be damaged by subsidence and/or vibrations. Another benefit of foundations with DPA screw piles on this site is that any disturbance from noise or vibrations in Purmerend town centre is kept to a minimum.
