Noise barriers on the A1 and A27

10 Stages1 Equipment

In a prime location between the A1 and the A27, Vroom has worked on the foundations for noise barriers in a 10-stage process. Three of our rigs could be spotted regularly on the section between Utrecht-Noord and Bunschoten-Spakenburg, near the Eemnes junction between the A1 and the A27, from the end of July 2017.

Not all of the noise barriers have pile foundations: some of the noise barriers are built on raft foundations. Our client, 3Angle, is working on the widening of a 23-km section of motorway  around the junction. The road network around Utrecht is the hub of the road network of the country as a whole: this is the point from which traffic from the densely-populated Randstad area joins the road network leading to the rest of the country and beyond. The predictions for the traffic situation in future suggest that things will get considerably worse if nothing is done. The changes being made here will improve accessibility for the Utrecht and Amersfoort area.
