The bridge has several abutments. For each abutment, the most practical pile has been applied. For the land abutments and the pillars, 774 vibro piles with a diameter of 508 and a length of more than 20 m have been applied. A part of the piles has been applied in a 10:1 slant position. The piles have been pre-drilled before they have been inserted. Underneath the supporting constructions, 74 VGS piles with grout have been realized. These piles have a diameter of 456 mm and are more than 22 m long.
Additional bridge
The bridge is necessary for a new connection, for the broadening process of the A1 freeway and for the application of a reversible lane allowing traffic to travel faster from and to Schiphol. The Muiderbrug will stay open.
No pillars in the Amsterdam-Rijnkanaal
The new bridge will be built according to a free pre-build method. This means that no pillars will be placed in the Amsterdam-Rijnkanaal. On both sides, supporting abutments will be placed. From there, the bridge parts will be built basically connected to each other. As a result, ships will hardly be bothered by the activities and can just sail on.
